Calliope is a well-established open-source energy modelling framework. Euro-Calliope is an openly-availabe, high-resolution, fully-sector-coupled model of Europe (incl. Switzerland) based on Calliope, on which the modelling of Switzerland will ground.
Features
- Full sector coupling (heat, transport, industry, power)
- Wide range of technologies, including indirect electrification options (synfuels)
- High spatial resolution (98 sub-national nodes for all of Europe)
- Highly reproducibile, openly-available workflow for model generation, including input data
Facts
Class | Energy System |
Type | Deterministic |
Spatial regions | All European countries |
Spatial resolution | The basic configurations are entire countries or 98 sub-country nodes (but other choices are possible) |
Time coverage | 2007-2016 |
Time resolution | Hourly, with the ability to run at reduced resolution to reduce the computational effort |
